I have got my Killing Floor map to a point where its nearly finished and is now available to download on the steam workshop. There is still some things I may change and fix in the next couple of weeks. Level Design - Initial Killing Floor Map Layout


Recently I have been working on making a map for the PC game Killing floor. I am making a somewhat futuristic subway station map.  At the moment all the assets in these screenshots come with the Killing Floor SDK but I may end up making my own textures and assets to replace them. 


For now I want to get the layout for my level done and make sure the map is playable from start to finish. As of now a good chunk of the map is laid out and can be finished. There is still a fair amount to fix such as enemy paths not working as planned, doors need to be set up properly among other things.


I plan on making this map relatively small compared to the other maps so I should try and utilise cramped spaces to force the players to fight in awkward spots to add tension, which I am trying to achieve in the storage and maintenance areas. 


Because players can choose their weapons in Killing Floor I need to try and keep ranged weapons viable which is what I feel the subway lanes give to the map. As they stand at the moment there may be too much space in these lanes so I need to add meshes to break up areas with lots of space.


This map may take a while to completely finish but at the moment I am enjoying it and its already quite fun to play so I will keep working on it whilst I have my free time :)

3D Practice - Sci-fi Hallway


I had a go at one of the Digital Tutors tutorials on modelling a Sci-fi scene. Learnt a a few new tricks I can use and it allowed me to familiarise myself more with rendering models in 3ds Max as opposed to UDK.

3D work - The Forgotten Kingdom


Here is the final version of my UDK environment. A subterranean city built by magic that has fallen into a mysterious silence through the same means as it was built. This environment is based roughly off of the city of venice with its waterways, narrow streets and gorgeous architecture. I may come back to this at some point but I would like to work on something different for now and this is a point in which I would be happy leaving it. Any critique or feedback would be appreciated :)

3D Work - The Forgotten Kingdom Update 1


My level is starting to take shape :D This level is going to be a subterranean city that was built by the first people who discovered magic and how it could be manipulated. I plan on making a trade district and playing with lighting to make the level more visible.

3D Practice - Modular Pieces with Terrain and foliage


Here is a start to a little project I want to try and make using a mixture of my assets and some from udk but for the final thing I will have made all the assets. I want to make a high-tech research lab area to study the nearby wildlife because I like the idea of creating nice clean sci-fi buildings with bright, vibrant foliage. My next step is to build the majority of the inorganic models and textures then work on pretty trees and nature stuff :)
